Location Overview

The Telluride Conference Center for the Summer School and QSim Conference is in Mountain Village in Telluride (580 Mountain Village Blvd, Mountain Village, CO 81435).

Mountain Village and the nearby Town of Telluride are popular tourist destinations with much to offer. You can find out more about the various activities offered at www.telluride.com/ and www.townofmountainvillage.com/.

Telluride is at an altitude of 8750 ft and the surrounding mountains can reach from 12000 to 14000 ft. It is important to note the elevation and any potential effects. You may notice shortness of breath, quickened pulse, and / or light-headedness and it may take a couple of days to get acclimated. The standard prescription for coping with the altitude is to remain well hydrated and take it easy on the caffeinated and alcoholic beverages. Also remember, hats or sunglasses and sunscreen are a necessity any time of year here.

A gondola connects the Conference Center in Mountain Village to the Town of Telluride (14-minute ride, runs from 7 am to midnight). From the Town of Telluride, get off at the second stop at Mountain Village. The Town is a walking community with a bus route. There is no need for a car in Telluride once you arrive. Please be aware that some hotels and condos charge for parking.

There are options for hotel rooms and condos in both Mountain Village and the Town of Telluride, though the Town tends to be cheaper. Some options are listed below, though many more are available. Early reservations are highly recommended as late bookings may limit the options to higher priced accommodations only.

Shared housing is a very popular affordable option. Apartments offer a more home-like experience with kitchens and some have washer/ dryer units on the premise.

The Peaks Resort & Spa (Near, $$$)

The Peaks Hotel & Resort is located near the Conference center, within a short walk from the gondola. This is a resort with a golf course, spa, indoor/outdoor pool with water slide, multiple hot tubs, fully equipped gyms with trainers, and daily exercise classes. The hotel has a restaurant with scenic view and an outdoor deck that is optimal for watching sunsets or sitting around the fire pits.

Hotel Madeline (Near, $$$)

The Hotel Madeline is located in the heart of the Mountain Village core, near the conference centers. The hotel offers a pool with an incredible view, spa, gym, two restaurants, and a trendy bar.

Mountain Lodge (Near, $$)

The Mountain Lodge offers daily maid service, an outdoor pool, hot tub, sauna, and fitness center. There is a restaurant and bar located in the main lodge. They offer small hotel-style lock off rooms and one and two bedroom suites.

Telluride Alpine Lodging

Telluride Alpine Lodging also has condos available in Mountain Village (Near) and in the Town of Telluride (Gondola Ride).

Bear Creek Lodge (Near, $$)

Bear Creek Lodge offers economical pricing for one to four bedroom condos. There is an outdoor swimming pool, hot tub, steam room, fitness center, game room and outdoor fire pit. Bear Creek Lodge offers free parking and shuttle service to the gondola and to Telluride.

Mountainside Inn (Gondola Ride, $)

This hotel is located on the west end of Telluride, along the San Miguel River and the beautiful River Trail. To get to the conference center, visitors will have to get to the Gondola and take a ride up to Mountain View. The accommodations include basic studio-style rooms (some have kitchenettes) and one-bedroom suites. It is one of our most economically priced hotels.

Telluride Gondola District Condos (Gondola Ride, $)

These are condos located in the heart of Telluride in close proximity to the Gondola. These units are more expensive because of the location.

Telluride West End Condos (Gondola Ride and medium walk, $)

These are condos located a little further away from the Main street business district but still within walking distance. These units tend to be less expensive.

Continue on Highway 145 about 16 miles into Telluride

From Montrose by car

Take a left out of the airport
Drive straight through the town Montrose about 30 miles to Ridgeway
At Ridgeway, take a right onto Highway 62 towards Telluride another 25 miles
